Lake Sonoma Recreation Area and Boat Rentals

Nestled in the coastal mountains of northern Sonoma County, 30 miles north of Santa Rosa, Lake Sonoma Recreation Area offers a beautiful freshwater reservoir for boating, kayaking, canoeing, swimming, fishing, and water skiing,. The lake is a boater's paradise and a popular fishing spot for trout and bass with winding waterways, inlets, coves, and canyons to explore. The Lake Sonoma Marina, 10 minutes west of Healdsburg in the Dry Creek Valley, offers boat, kayak and jet ski rentals and fishing supplies. The lake's 53 miles of scenic shoreline offer several recreation and picnic areas, an archery range, a disc golf course,  and scenic trails for hiking, biking and horseback riding.

  • Can you rent a canoe or kayak on Lake Sonoma?

    Lake Sonoma offers boat and water craft rentals at the marina, including canoes and kayaks. The fee to rent a canoe on Lake Sonoma for 8 hours is $150 and the fee for a kayak rental for 8 hours is $140.  The marina also rents fishing boats, ski boats, water skis, knee boards, wake boards, and inner tubes. Boat rentals can be arranged by calling the Lake Sonoma Marina at 707-433-2200.

    One of Northern California's greatest fishing destinations, Lake Sonoma offers rich waters filled with catfish, steelhead trout, largemouth bass. spotted bass, crappie, and sunfish.  Tucked in the coastal mountains north of Santa Rosa in northern Sonoma Country, the lake offers a full-service marina with fishing boats, supplies, bait, and gas.  Anglers prefer the upper inlets of the lake where there are no water skiing and wake zones. The best trout fishing is in the feeder streams and the best spots for bass fishing are Dry Creek Arm, Cherry Creek and Yorty Creek.
